'WEIGHT GAIN AFTER LOSING FAT IS NORMAL'

People are getting upset about things that happen to every single person on the planet. It is inevitable that you will put weight on after obtaining a calorie deficit for a period of time & then going back to 'normal' eating.

So what happens when you start eating more calories after restricting for so long. First of all, as your calories go up, your carbohydrate intake will increase, meaning that these carbs will start to store in the body as glycogen (1g of carbs/glycogen = 3-4ml of water). So if you eat 100g of carbohydrates more than previous days you will be carrying 300/400ml of excess water around with you (GO & FILL A 400ML JUG WITH WATER & SEE HOW HEAVY IT IS). Also on top of this you have the extra weight of food you have eaten in your system compared to previous days.

'FAIL FALLACY'

The important thing to realise that when coming off a calorie restricted diet that it is normal to add LBS in the few days commencing. You have not failed your diet & you have not wasted your time. Please remember the difference between body weight & body fat. Most of the time they just don't correlate.

When you finish a calorie restricted diet just keep exercising (hopefully continue to get stronger), increase your calorie & protein intake, eat plenty of fruit & veg and add foods into your diet that you enjoy. You will have good days & bad days and if you have too many bad days together then you know exactly what you need to do to lose it again.
